Great post, but seriously, who did not know since 2014 that the US had staged a coup in Ukraine? This was not exactly a secret. Every leftist in the US knew that. We had photos of John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Amy Klobuchar in Ukraine posing with the Azov Battalion. We had the leak of the Victoria Nuland conversation revealing the coup many years ago.
Yes, but all that got memory-holed through the enormous, unprecedented and coordinated barrage of propaganda. Every pundit, newsperson, commentator and politician repeated "unprovoked attack" and "full-scale invasion" ad nauseum, until everyone just took it to be a matter of settled history. Every mainstream news outlet had reported on Ukraine's "Nazi problem" but that all got swept away after February 2022.
Even the Istanbul peace deal was memory holed. I found plenty of news articles in the NYT and WaPo detailing how the peace talks were proceeding, even one where Zelensky was saying that Ukraine could be neutral.
Bit that all went away after Boris scuttled the deal.
And let';s not forget, your average American media consumer has the memory of a fruit fly.
