Netanyahu’s Speech Broke All Records … for Lying (Part 2)
The number of myths and misrepresentations, deceits and distortions, fake takes and false narratives were just too many to cover in one article …
Last Wednesday, July 24, 2023, Benjamin Netanyahu strode confidently toward the podium in the well of the House of Representatives. He was mobbed, swarmed by giddy members of Congress yearning to shake his hand, touch his sleeve, or glean some kind of fleeting acknowledgment from their chosen hero.
Bibi’s “State of the Union Address”
Israel’s Haaretz described Netanyahu’s speech to Congress as “a studied imitation of a presidential State of the Union, complete with the recognition of distinguished guests in the gallery at the start and the ‘God bless the United States of America’ at the end.”
Indeed, Bibi had crafted his speech much like that of a US President, complete with a heavy peppering of applause lines. In fact, the Congressmen “honoured” Netanyahu with no less than 58 standing ovations, 3x more that US President Joe Biden ever received (16), and even eclipsing Barack Obama’s personal record (50) and that of Ronald Reagan (30). It probably says more about Congress than about Bibi that he received just slightly less than Donald Trump’s record of 70 standing ovations.
Setting the stage
As I mentioned in my previous post, “Netanyahu’s Speech Broke All Records … for Lying (Part 1)”, Bibi opened his speech with a barrage of hasbarist horseshit, depicting the world in cataclysmic and eschatological terms designed to get the Christians in Congress engaged.
He then jumped right into the threat from Iran, renaming their “Axis of Resistance” the “axis of terror” and implying that only Israel stands between American and Western civilisation and the “barbarism” of Iran-backed “Islamic terrorism”.
He declared that the events of October 7, 2023 were “Israel’s 9/11”, putting the Hamas-engineered “prison break” on the same level as the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour and Al Qaeda’s attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Netanyahu finished the first part of his speech with a rapid-fire listing of “Hamas atrocities” on October 7, all of which have been debunked and disproven.
The fact that the crimes Netanyahu enumerated never happened did not matter. They were all just used to portray Hamas as “evil” and thus serve the higher purpose of condemning and dismissing the anti-genocide or pro-Palestinian protesters as “evil adjacent”:
“Yet incredibly many anti-Israel protesters, many choose to stand with evil”, Netanyahu thundered. “They stand with Hamas. They stand with rapists and murderers.”
Having thus dispatched the thousands of protesters chanting outside as evil dupes of Iran, Netanyahu moved on with the real “State of the Union” part of his speech.
Guests in the gallery
Every US President delivering a State of the Union (SOTU) address knows that guests in the gallery are a great way to highlight a point and generate not just support for your views, but applause for your speech.
Bibi was no different.
First, he trotted out Noa Argamani, one of the four (4) Israeli hostages rescued on June 8, 2024 in what Netanyahu described as “a breathtaking commando rescue operation” which Netanyahu claimed to have personally authorised.
Agamani has become a fabricated poster child for the Israeli military, sort of an Israeli version of Jessica Lynch, the US Army clerk whose rescue in Iraq was doctored to make better news headlines.
Bibi’s “operation”, which was done with US support, was a disaster that featured indiscriminate carpet-bombing of the area, destroyng everything in the area with overwhelming force to protect the precious IDF rescuers. That mass bombardment resulted in 274 Palestinians killed as the buildings they were in collapsed around them.
Yes, Bibi— the operation was indeed “breathtaking” in the most literal sense: almost 300 Palestinians will never breathe again.
Cynical use of a Hannibal event
Netanyahu went on to recognise another “prop person” in the gallery: the mother of a hostage killed by IDF forces:
“And with us also is Iris Haim, whose son Yotam bravely escaped Hamas captivity with two other Israelis, and tragically they were killed making their way back to our lines.”
But Bibi fails to mention WHO killed them, doesn’t he? And we are left to assume that the “evil Hamas” had killed them.
Nope. It was the Hannibal Directive that killed them.
In my article, “Israel Has a Nasty Habit of Killing Its Own”, I explain the tragic story of the three young Israelis were shot in cold blood by IDF forces — despite their being shirtless and carrying a white flag.
Even more damning: One of the murdered hostages was even heard yelling for help in Hebrew prior to being shot.
More scandal has erupted around another three hostages who were killed by the IDF using poison gas in the tunnels in which they were held hostage.
That’s the Hannibal Directive for you: it’s operational basis can be summed up as “better safe than sorry”.
The UN reports that since October 7, at least 40 hostages held by the Palestinians have died. We know at around 10 and maybe more have died at the hand of the IDF, by rifle, bomb or poison gas.
But that is a statistic Bibi doesn’t want you to know.
“God bless our troops”
Netanyahu could never admit that the IDF were (and almost certainly are) killing hostages. It would work against his theme of the “brave Israeli soldiers” who, as he told Congress, “have shown boundless courage.”
Just not enough courage to actually risk their lives to rescue hostages, apparently.
Netanyahu sang high praises for the Israeli soldiers he had brought with them, calling them “the soldiers of Israel — unbowed, undaunted, unafraid.”
Netanyahu waxed even more eloquent:
“As the Bible says…they shall rise like lions. They’ve risen like lions, the lions of Judah, the lions of Israel.”
And we all know that these “brave lions of Israel” would never kill children, right?
Bibi “goes for the gold”
In my article, “Israel and the US : A “Master Blaster” in the Global Thunderdome”, I described the disparate relationship between the US and Israel, including how most Israelis — and especially Netanyahu — believe that Americans are naively stupid and will believe anything.
Netanyahu himself is even on tape telling a group of settlers how he regularly misleads, and generally bamboozles Americans. And how “easy” it is, once scoffing:
“I know America. America can be easily moved…Eighty per cent of the Americans support us. It’s absurd!”
It can only be this supreme confidence in his own cleverness, combined with his decades of belief in the stupidity of Americans, that allowed Benjamin Netanyahu to spew his next round of outrageous lies about Gaza.
The most preposterous lies EVER
Benjamin Netanyahu got up in front of the US Congress and declared — unironically, unequivocally — that Israel was NOT killing innocent women and children in Gaza.
This assertion came in the midst of a more generalised rant against the “antisemitic” International Criminal Court (ICC), which is expected to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and some other high ranking officials.
“The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has shamefully accused Israel of deliberately starving the people of Gaza. This is utter complete nonsense. It’s a complete fabrication.”
Here Bibi is playing one of his favourite games: “who you gonna believe? Me? Or your lying eyes?”
After all, we have seen the starving children; we know that the United Nations has declared that Gaza is officially in a state of famine.
Oh, but Bibi has an answer for that, as well:
“If there are Palestinians in Gaza who aren’t getting enough food, it’s not because Israel is blocking it, it’s because Hamas is stealing it.”
This is ridiculous on its face. First, we know that Hamas enjoys a 90% approval rating among the people in Gaza. That would not be the case if Hamas were starving them. And if Hamas wanted to steal food, why didn’t they do it BEFORE the conflict started?
Moreover, we have plenty of evidence of Israeli settlers blocking aid trucks from entering Gaza.
But even more importantly, we know that Israel has destroyed all the food distribution infrastructure. The UN has determined that “Israel is destroying Gaza’s food system and weaponising food.”
And we have all seen the many “flour massacres” and other mass shootings in which the IDF gunned down people rushing to get supplies from aid trucks.
Targeting children — with sniper rifles
But Bibi was just warming up — there was much more to come:
“So much for that lie, but here’s another: The ICC prosecutor accuses Israel of deliberately targeting civilians. What in God’s green earth is he talking about?”
Netanyahu said that Israeli forces have done their utmost to safeguard Palestinian civilians, claiming that they distributed “millions of flyers, sent millions of text messages, made hundreds of thousands of phone calls to get Palestinian civilians out of harm’s way”.
How ironic, then, that just two days before his speech in Washington, on 22 July, the Israeli army started bombing the eastern neighbourhoods of Khan Younis, a previously designated humanitarian area that sheltered 400,000 Palestinians. Even worse: the bombing started just minutes after it issued an evacuation order. More than 70 died on the spot, and hundreds were injured.
In other words, almost half a million people were supposed to be “out of harm’s way”, according to Netanyahu — only to be mercilessly bombed where they thought they were safe — where Israel had told them they‘d be safe.
And speaking of “targeting”: Israel is deliberately targeting children — with snipers.
Irfan Galaria, and American doctor from Virginia, told the Los Angeles Times of what he had seen when he went to Gaza in January:
“On one occasion, a handful of children, all about ages 5 to 8, were carried to the emergency room by their parents. All had single sniper shots to the head. These families were returning to their homes in Khan Younis, about 2.5 miles away from the hospital, after Israeli tanks had withdrawn. But the snipers apparently stayed behind. None of these children survived.”
Dr. Mark Perlmutter, a (Jewish American) orthopaedic surgeon from North Carolina, volunteered in Gaza from late April through mid-May. He also saw the results of “targeted” sniper attacks on children:
“I have two children that I have photographs of that were shot so perfectly in the chest, I couldn’t put my stethoscope over their heart more accurately, and directly on the side of the head, in the same child. No toddler gets shot twice by mistake by the ‘world’s best sniper.’ And they’re dead-center shots.”
The interview below is extremely powerful and you should watch it.
“Every accusation is a confession”
I have often quoted in my articles about Israel that, when it comes to Israeli Zionists, “every accusation is a confession”. This is because Zionists all have an instinctive, reflexive habit of accusing others of crimes or outrages that they themselves are committing.
This holds true for Netanyahu, who had the audacity to say:
“For Israel, every civilian death is a tragedy. For Hamas, it’s a strategy.”
THE EXACT OPPOSITE IS TRUE. Israel has a well-documented and demonstrated strategy of killing children. The American doctor Perlmutter, when asked if his trauma patients included children, replied: “Almost exclusively children”. I’ve never seen that before”.
We know from official tallies that the official death toll among civilians in Gaza is over 39,000, with more than half, in fact up to 70%, being women and children.
The numbers are even worse than reported
HERE’S THE PROBLEM: The Gaza health ministry reported as early as last November that it was unable to update its death toll due to the health sector’s collapse from Israeli bombardment.
That’s right: Israel is deliberately targeting health care workers, medical personnel, administrative personnel (UNRWA) as well as deliberately destroying the hospitals, clinics, offices, schools and other facilities in which they work.
This means the entire medical and health care system in Gaza has collapsed - along with the ability to count the dead.
186,000 dead?
The Lancet, the world’s most prestigious medical publication, has published an article estimating that the true cost of Israel’s genocide in Gaza is much higher than has been contemplated.
According to a study published by The Lancet in July, the cumulative effects of Israel’s war on Gaza could mean the true death toll could reach more than 186,000 people.
And yet Bibi maintains Israel’s innocence, saying in effect: “who you gonna believe? Me? Or every international agency in the world?”
Israel…has implemented more precautions to prevent civilian harm than any military in history and beyond what international law requires.
When you put this foul utterance next to the fact that they are literally using snipers to double-tap children, it is enough to raise your blood pressure.
That’s why despite all the lies you’ve heard, the war in Gaza has one of the lowest ratios of combatants to non-combatant casualties in the history of urban warfare. And you want to know where it’s lowest in Gaza? It’s lowest in Rafah. In Rafah.
In fact, this is nonsense. In November, then-Israeli military spokesperson Jonathan Conricus told CNN that Israel believes that it has killed two Palestinian civilians for every Hamas militant.
Netanyahu went on to claim that the civilian deaths in Rafah were “practically none”. This when he himself had to apologise in the face of global outrage at the huge casualties caused by an Israeli air strike in the middle of the Rafah “safe zone”.
Destroying Rafah’s water “in honour of Shabbat”
Three days after Netanyahu spoke to the Congress, elements of IDF’s Armoured Corps decided to make life truly impossible for the Palestinians in Rafah.
“The Israeli army is investigating suspicions of a violation of international law by its troops who blew up a main water reservoir serving the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.”
The reservoir, in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood, was also known as the Canada Well.
Worthy of note is that US human rights activist Rachel Corrie, who was crushed to death in 2003 by an Israeli military bulldozer while attempting to prevent demolitions in the city, spent much of her time during the last month of her life helping to protect the municipality workers at the Canada Well.
According to the Haaretz article, one soldier posted video footage of the explosion on social media with the caption: “The destruction of Tel Sultan’s water reservoir in honor of Shabbat.” The video ends with footage of the water facility being blown up.
The soundtrack is a song produced by soldiers of the 51st Golani Brigade with lyrics like, “We will burn Gaza… shake all of Gaza… for every house you destroy we will destroy ten.”
But the Rafah water disaster is just party of a pattern of genocidal cruelty by the IDFAs Reuters reports:
“Israel’s military blew up more than 30 water wells in Gaza this month, a municipality official and residents said, adding to the trauma of airstrikes that have turned much of the Palestinian enclave into a wasteland ravaged by a humanitarian crisis.
The United Nations has said that the IDF’s destruction of water facilities will lead to more deaths due to infections and diseases like polio, which has now reached epidemic levels.
And yet, Netanyahu closed with more encomium for these “brave lions” of the IDF:
“These heroes here today, the heroic soldiers of Israel, should not be condemned for how they’re conducting the war in Gaza. They should be commended for it.”
Well …
After gaslighting his audience about the unparalleled humanitarian virtue of Israel and the unmatched moral superiority of the IDF, it was time for Benjamin Netanyahu to move on to the REAL reason for his trip to the State — the Main Event, the Center Ring of his hasbarist circus:
It was time to talk about IRAN.
Iran is the “greatest threat” — really?
Netanyahu eased into his diatribe on Iran with a sweeping condemnation:
“In the Middle East, Iran is virtually behind all the terrorism, all the turmoil, all the chaos, all the killing.”
As I mentioned in my article, “Israel is Built on Myth Part III: The False Story of ‘Islamic Terrorism’”, the demonisation of Iran plays a key role in the overall hierarchy of Zionist propaganda.
According to the Israelis, Iran is the Great Puppeteer, the one who is pulling the strings, the one cause of all the trouble in the region.
The reason for this is simple:
The Zionists NEED to have such an evil player to point to, lest people start pointing fingers at Israel.
According to Netanyahu and the Israelis, Iran is arming and inciting the Palestinians to attack Israel; Iran is the one who is demanding that Hezbollah attack Israel; Iran is the one who is using the Houthis to attack Israel.
In short, every resistance movement that Israel encounters is actually just a proxy of the Great Evil that is Iran.
This is, of course, nothing but another rank hasbara narrative.
“Every accusation is a confession”
Once more we must step back and remind ourselves that we are listening to Bibi Netanyahu, the master Zionist hasbara propagandist. That means everything he says, everything he accuses others of, are things of which he and the Israelis are guilty themselves.
A good example: while speaking at the 2018 Munich Security Conference, Netanyahu declared that “Iran is the greatest threat to the world”.
The Israeli PM then compared Iran to Nazi Germany, in that Iran advocates “master faith” just like Nazi Germany used to advocate “master race”.
The unhinged Zionist even went on to accuse Iran of openly threatening to “annihilate Israel with its six million Jews”, because he just can’t help tossing in the oblique Holocaust references.
But remember: with Zionists like Bibi, “every accusation is a confession”. The accusation that Iran considers their faith to be a “master faith” is actually a confession: in fact, the belief that one’s faith makes one superior to all others — in other words, to be “God’s Chosen People” — is actually a basic tenet at the heart of Zionism, and the literal foundation of the State of Israel.
Ever since Israel’s benefactor, the US, declared Russia to be the greatest threat to the world, Bibi has had to drop the idea of Iran being the number one “global” threat and settle for the Iranians being simply the number one “regional” threat.
Regardless, Netanyahu is still spinning that old hasbarist propaganda wheel, in which every accusation is a confession:
It is, in fact, ISRAEL who is behind “all the terrorism, all the turmoil, all the chaos, all the killing” in the region.
“Our fight is your fight”
Of course, a major component of the Iran narrative relies on convincing the US that Iran poses a threat to the United States as well.
It is a sort of circular logic. So many of the groups that Israel calls “terrorists” are actually just “resistance movements” opposed to Israel — and only Israel.
By tying all those groups to Iran, and then portraying Iran as a threat to the US, Netanyahu can make the argument that “Israel’s fight is America’s fight.” But that means making Iran, a regional player threatening Israel, into a global player threatening America.
Ayatollah Khomeini has clearly stated that “The Revolution is not something that can be exported through political means or advanced through military and security operations.” In fact, several pronouncements over the past decades make it very clear that Iran has no imperialist or expansionist ambitions.
But that won’t stop Bibi from saying it is so:
“Now, ask yourself, which country ultimately stands in the way of Iran’s maniacal plans to impose radical Islam on the world? And the answer is clear: It’s America, the guardian of Western civilisation and the world’s greatest power. That’s why Iran sees America as its greatest enemy.”
Are you scared yet? If not, Bibi added in some nuclear armageddon language:
“When Israel acts to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons that could destroy Israel and threaten every American city, every city that you come from, we’re not only protecting ourselves. We’re protecting you.”
There is absolutely no evidence that Iran is working on a nuclear weapon. This is just a way to say “we’re in this together” and “it’s not just us”.
This is important for the propaganda narrative:
“So, when Israel fights Hamas, we’re fighting Iran. When we fight Hezbollah, we’re fighting Iran. When we fight the Houthis, we’re fighting Iran. And when we fight Iran, we’re fighting the most radical and murderous enemy of the United States of America.”
Rubbish, but it ties everything up nicely. And you never get to realise that Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis all have one thing in common (besides starting with an “H”) — they are all fighting the illegal occupation, theft, bombings, terror and murder perpetrated by Israel.
Then, Bibi brings it on home
Netanyahu then delivered the real message of his speech, the one thing that matters most to Israel: that the United States and Israel are one and the same, that they have the same enemies, and that Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and Iran aren’t really angry with Israel and Zionism, but rather they just — as George W. Bush said — “hate us for our freedom“.
“My friends, If you remember one thing, one thing from this speech, remember this: Our enemies are your enemies, our fight is your fight, and our victory will be your victory.”
Then Bibi added one last racist incantation:
“Together, we shall defend our common civilisation.”
Then finally, the Prime Minister of Israel added that Presidential cherry on top of his racist, jingoistic cake; the watchwords of every Western leader convinced of the “exceptionalism” of their people:
“May God bless Israel.”
“May God bless America.”
